Secretary General of the IFSB - MalaysiaSecretary-General of the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB), the international body that sets prudential and supervisory standards for the Islamic financial services industry, a post he has held since 2003. He was the Secretary-General of the Accounting and Auditing - - Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI), a post he held for eight years. Member of the Standards Advisory Council of the International Accounting Standards Board, now serving his second three-year term. Member of the Consultative Advisory Group of the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board.Visiting Professor in the School of Management at Surrey University, UK and Honorary Professor in the Faculty of Business and Economics at Monash University, Australia, Professor Rifaat Abde Karim has been the recipient of the following awards:"Lifetime Achievement Award in Islamic Banking and Finance" awarded to him by the Islamic Banking and Finance Forum in Bahrain, 1998.
